Revisiting the Iris Field : The iris field is one of those sacred, holy places. We stumbled upon the iris field quite by accident while on one of our motorcycle rides. It is located on one of those backroads, off another back road, and so is only known to those few lucky people that happene to live around the the area or the lucky few that happenstance shines upon. There is a magical quality that surrounds this land. Its beauty and unique qualities makes you stop and realize all that the physical world can offer. There are no signs to this field. You don't have to buy tickets. There are no brochures nor are souvenirs offered. I make it a habit every year to journey to the field. It refreshes me. It tells me of cycles, and solitude, and perfection.

a quiet day : It was a quiet, foggy day. It seems the fog not only settles on the land, it also settles in the mind, giving it peace and contemplation. Down the backroads of the Mohawk Valley, through the fog we traveled. All was well. A dead deer in the woods seemed at peace with its world. Pigs were curious with us but not so curious as to stop their rutting. They have their priorities as well. A road was found called "Lovers Lane" and it was a dead end. An old one room school house still echoed with the voices of children studying their primers and with their joy and expectation when relieved of their duties, dismissed to their own devises. The woods spoke loud to me with its silence, the time between the notes, comforting. It was a time of silence.

Sunrise on Meadowdale Road, November 20, 2005 : It was a clear, cold morning as the sun rose over the fields and the creek. The sounds of geese, floating over the fields from nearby Black Creek Marsh, filled the air. Ice formations etched the edges of the water, waiting to melt as the sun rose higher and waiting once again to appear, as opportunity and fate would have it, with winters steadfast, relentless approach. All was clear, and well and as it should be.

Washington County Spring 2009 : Nestled against the Vermont border and a fourty five minute drive north of Albany , New York lies Washington County. Rolling hills and valleys abound.
